Michelle Gourdine is senior vice president and chief medical officer for CVS Caremark, ensuring the quality and safety of our services and that our work is based on the continuous evaluation of scientific evidence. Gourdine’s experience and passion for helping people improve their health, particularly the health of disadvantaged communities, advances our progress in medical affairs and our efforts to improve health care for PBM clients and members.
Previously, Gourdine was senior vice president, population health and primary Care, and interim chief medical officer at the University of Maryland Medical System. She is a clinical assistant professor in the departments of epidemiology and preventive medicine and pediatrics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and senior associate faculty at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Gourdine earned her medical degree at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine before practicing community-based pediatrics. A nationally-sought-after speaker, she has also written the book, Reclaiming Our Health: A Guide to African American Wellness (Yale University Press).
