Mental health issues affect men and women differently and disproportionately. According to 2022 Harris Poll data commissioned by CVS Health, more working mothers have been diagnosed with anxiety and/or depression (42 percent) than the general population (28 percent), their coworkers without kids (25 percent), and working fathers (35 percent).

Many mental health conditions, such as depression and bipolar disorder, affect more women than men and have different symptoms for women. With women carrying the brunt of financial and household stress, payors should seek action to ensure that mental health resources are available and easily accessible for women.
