Member education: how we help build awareness
Supporting members taking specialty medications through our many touchpoints, expertise, data
As additional biosimilars come to market later this year, we continue our commitment to maximize savings for payors while expanding coverage and minimizing disruption for members. To achieve this, some of our formulary strategies include supporting education, alignment, and adoption of biosimilars where appropriate. Providers are sometimes hesitant to adopt biosimilar drugs and their support is often a key factor influencing the decision to choose the biosimilar.1
Our Specialty Pharmacy uses a personalized data-driven approach to engage and inform both providers and patients about the benefits of the preferred drug. Through personalized outreach, we provide resources and expertise to close knowledge gaps, help overcome potential concerns, and ease the transition to a formulary preferred product.
Whether lowest net cost comes from reference products, biosimilars, or other follow-on biologics, we manage formulary transitions carefully. Our comprehensive approach provides resources using direct mail, digital, IVR phone calls, and personal outreach in the pharmacy.
Proactive outreach: To educate the member on actions needed and how the preferred drug(s) is clinically effective and may help lower their out-of-pocket costs
Communicate plan changes: To inform providers and members through our omnichannel approach, using the channels they prefer
Pharmacist call: Pharmacist call to prescribers to educate on plan change and benefits to patients
Ongoing prescriber engagement: Local resources meet with provider offices to empower electronic capabilities and assist providers with biosimilars change, when needed
We support our clients and their members every step of the way as we work to drive the impact of biosimilar competition to lower costs for everyone.
